Do I dare venture out?

Black Friday has come and gone. I wonder if there are any worthwhile goodies left in the retail world?

As much as I hate to, I am going to have to venture out into the cold to go to the grocery store (at least). There is really nothing that I need "retail wise" - and anything I buy would just be because it was on sale. I am trying hard to steer away from that sort of buying and stockpiling (an admitted problem I have from time to time).

I have been thinking about New Year Resolutions for 2009. I know that many do not believe in doing those - but I actually look forward to setting a mini plan or set of reachable goals in place. It's fun to me - and rewarding to chart my progress (or lack there of).

Last year I had two accomplished two major resolutions. One was to rid myself of clutter (selling, barter, garage sales, ebay, etc.) and invest the profits into my artistic ventures. That was very successful. I condensed everything I owned to focus on the NOW of my life - from appliances, clothing, nik naks, art supplies... you name it! If it didn't fit my life as it is NOW - it went.

The second major accomplishment was my art. I had a very simple goal. My goal was that I would have at least one of my paintings exhibited in a show in 2008. I think I more than surpassed that goal. I guess what I am trying to say is that if I didn't have something in writing to strive for - I very well may have wandered off the beaten path. I just need that "jump point" and I like using the start of a New Year as that spot. So for the next day or two - I will be putting some of those things into writing. I am wondering how many of my friends in blog land will be doing the same?

I ventured out and stopped in at the fabric store, the Friday sales were certainly successful there, lots of empty shelves, but still lots of bargains. I, also, make resolutions. I'm thinking of breaking them into monthly projects through out the year. That might be fun. We'll see. Hopefully I can be as successful as you were this past year. Give yourself a pat on the back!

I was out yesterday and today..only looking for a few necessary items..a crochet hook...some fabric for my daughter's birthday party project..nothing else really grabbed my attention though. I looked around as I was out..but came up empty handed.

Congratulations on your 2008 success! I don't make any resolutions except for one: make 2009 better than 2008..up up and away. Happy new year!

Hey- I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I appreciate you checking in on my blog from time to time, and I am going to to try to be better about doing the same.

I love that you got rid of clutter and all the things that weren't important to you in the "now" and reinvested them into your art- that is a great idea and has inspired me to perhaps try and do the same.

I hope your 2009 is off to a great start.
